Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to me: ‘Abd al-Wahhab ibn ‘Abd al-Majid narrated to us: from Ja’far ibn Muhammad: from his father: from Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah, he said:

When Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and grant him peace) would deliver a sermon, his eyes became red, his voice rose, and his anger intensified, so it was as though he was warning against an army, saying, “The [enemy] has made a morning attack on you and an evening attack on you.” He would say: “The Hour and I have been sent like these two” and would join his forefinger and middle finger. And he would say: “As for what follows. The best of speech is the Book of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. And the most evil of affairs are their innovations; and every bid’ah is misguidance.”

Dari Aishah r.ha meriwayatkan bahawa telah menjadi satu amalan nabi s.a.w. apabila pergi ke tempat tidurnya beliau akan menadahkan kedua belah tapak tangannya dan membacakan surah (Ikhlas) Qul Huwallahuahad, (Al Falaq) Qula'udzu birabbil falaq dan (An nas) Qul a'udzubirabbin Naas sebanyak tiga kali, kemudian beliau akan menghembuskan pada tangannya dan menyapukan pada seluruh anggota badannya bermula dari kepalanya, mukanya, kemudian di anggota sebelah hadapannya. Beliau akan berbuat demikian sebanyak tiga kali.

Hadith - Kelebihan Solat Dhuha

Dari Abu Hurairah r.a. meriwayatkan bahawa Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda,

"Barangsiapa istiqamah mengerjakan dua rakaat sembahyang Dhuha, dosa-dosanya dihapuskan walaupun sebanyak buih di lautan."

Hadith - Mengasihi isteri mukminah dan hak mereka

Dari Abu Hurairah r.a. meriwayatkan bahawa Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda,

"Bukanlah sifat seorang mukmin lelaki, membenci akan isterinya yang mukminah. Jikalau kerana satu-satu tabiat buruknya yang tidak disukai, namun ia masih tetap ada sifat-sifat yang lain yang terpuji."

Hadith - Habib dan Tabib, Kekasih dan Pengubat

Dalam sebuah hadith qudsi, Allah S.W.T. berfirman

"Orang yang mengingatiKu adalah orangKu. Aku tidak akan menjauhkannya daripada rahmatKu. Sekiranya mereka sentiasa bertaubat daripada dosa-dosa maka Aku menjadi habib (kekasih) mereka. Sebaliknya jika mereka tidak bertaubat maka Aku menjadi tabib (pengubat) untuk mereka dengan membawa kesusahan dan keperitan kepada mereka untuk mensucikan mereka daripada dosa-dosa."

It has been reported by Abu Hurairah (Radihialllaho anho) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) said,

"When my Followers will begin to adore the worldly benefits, their hearts will be deprived of the dignity and importance of Islam, and when they stop the enjoining good and forbidding evil, they will be deprived of the blessings of the Revelation, and when they will abuse each other, they will fall from the esteem of Allah."

Sebanyak 150 jemaah telah dihantar dari Madinah dalam masa 10 tahun tersebut. Baginda s.a.w. sendiri telah menyertai 25 daripada jemaah-jemaah tersebut. Sebahagian jemaah tersebut terdiri daripada 10,000 orang, ada yang 1,000 orang, 500 orang, 300 orang, 15 orang, 7 orang dan sebagainya. Jemaah-jemaah ini ada yang keluar untuk 3 bulan, 2 bulan, 15 hari, 3 hari dan sebagainya. 125 jemaah lagi sebahagiannya terdiri daripada 1000 orang, 600 orang, 500 orang dan sebagainya dengan masa 6 bulan, 4 bulan dan sebagainya.

His boss gave him the choice between reducing his beard or leaving the job

I work in a company and the boss asked me to reduce my beard (not shave it off) or leave the job. He always lets me pray in the mosque at the times of prayer. What is the ruling on reducing my beard?

Firstly:

Shaving the beard is haraam, as is shortening it and reducing it, because of the evidence which shows that it is obligatory to leave it alone and let it grow.

Ruling on going on strike

What is the ruling on going on strike to attain some workers’ demands or to improve their situation?

Striking is a breach of the contract between the worker and his employer, and Allaah calls on us in His Book to honour and uphold the contracts that one person may take upon himself towards another person. So the worker has to do all the work that he agreed to do in a manner that pleases Allaah and in accordance with the aayah (interpretation of the meaning);

“O you who believe! Fulfil (your) obligations…”

I work for an american company. I am the only muslim. What is the ruling on working in auditing offices, knowing that the job of the auditor is to check the company's accounts and budgets which may contain records of bank accounts or interest (riba), but he is not the one who wrote these accounts or dealt with them at all; rather he is only reviewing or checking them? All of that is for the purpose of issuing a report on the extent to which this organisation is adhering to international guidelines with regard to the outcome of its activities and to issue financial records.

Minimum distance of travel at which it is permissible not to fast and to shorten prayers

What is the minimum distance of traveling at which the fasting is exused.

The majority of scholars are of the view that the distance at which a traveler may join prayers and not fast is forty-eight miles. Ibn Qudaamah said in al-Mughni:

The view of Abu ‘Abd-Allaah [i.e., Imam Ahmad] is that it is not permissible to shorten the prayers for a distance of less than sixteen farsakhs, and a farsakh is three miles, so the distance is forty-eight miles. This was the estimation of Ibn ‘Abbaas. He said: From ‘Usfaan to Makkah, or from al-Taa’if to Makkah, or from Jeddah to Makkah.

Collecting donations to give gifts to poor families at Christmas

In my school it is Christmas time. My school has this Christmas tradition. Every year a classroom gets an adopted family that is poor so they can buy gifts, food, and donate money to them for Christmas. Unfortunately, I have refused to donate any money or give any food for the following reason: -These denotations will be done in the name of christmas, so that when the adopted family receives these donations, they will say "God Bless The Christians".

Playing Qur'aan in the car from speakers next to the feet

I have a question about the ruling on playing Qur'aan in the car, as the sound comes out directly next to the feet.

Listening to Qur'aan in the car is a righteous deed and a beneficial act of worship. But having the speakers directly next to one's feet in such a way that the sound of the Qur'aan is heard from below is something that is not appropriate and you should limit it to the rear speakers if you have any, or do something to change the position of the speakers.

Recommendation to fast Taasoo’a’ with ‘Ashoora’

I want to fast ‘Ashoora’ this year, but some people told me that the Sunnah is to fast the day before as well (Taasoo’a’). Is there any report that this was the teaching of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)?

‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: When the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted on the day of ‘Ashoora and told the people to fast, they said, “O Messenger of Allaah, this is a day that is venerated by the Jews and Christians.” The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said,

“Next year, if Allaah wills, we will fast on the ninth day.”

Does he have to tell his second wife that he is married

I married a foreign woman after she became Muslim in a shar‘i marriage in accordance with the laws of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, and I concealed from her the fact that I was married before. Is my marriage legitimate or do I have to tell her that I am married and that she is the second wife? Please note that I concealed this matter from her because the country in which we live does not allow plural marriage.

Ruling on singling out ‘Ashoora for fasting

Is it permissible to fast ‘Ashoora’ only without fasting the day before or the day after?

Shaykh al-Islam [Ibn Taymiyah] said: Fasting the day of ‘Ashoora’ is expiation for one year, and it is not makrooh to single out this day for fasting. Al-Fataawa al-Kubra, part 5.

The virtue of fasting ‘Ashoora’

I heard that fasting the day of ‘Ashoora’ expiates for the past year, is this true?
Does it expiate for everything, even major sins? What is the reason for venerating this day?.

Firstly:

Fasting the day of ‘Ashoora’ does expiate for the past year, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Fasting the day of ‘Arafah I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year before it and the year after it, and fasting the day of ‘Ashoora’ I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year that came before it.”

Narrated by Muslim, 1162.

Dari Abu Hurairah r.a. berkata, aku mendengar Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda,

"Ingatlah! Sesungguhnya dunia ini telah terlaknat dan telah terlaknat apa yang ada di dalamnya (jauh dari rahmat Allah S.W.T.), kecuali zikrullah dan apa-apa yang hampir kepadaNya (amal-amal kebajikan), seorang alim dan seorang penuntut ilmu agama."

Hadith - Orang Yang Allah S.W.T. Benci

Dari Abu Hurairah r.a. meriwayatkan bahawa baginda Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda,

"Sesungguhnya Allah S.W.T. membenci seorang yang keras hatinya, seorang yang banyak makan, seorang yang menjerit-jerit di pasar, seorang yang seumpama mayat di waktu malam (kerana banyaknya tidur), seumpama keldai di waktu siang (kerana sentiasa sibuk dengan kerja-kerja dunia) dan seorang yang berpengetahuan mengenai perkara dunia tetapi jahil mengenai perkara akhirat."

Dari Utbah ibn A'bdi r.a. meriwayatkan bahawa Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda,

"Walaupun seseorang itu sentiasa menghadapkan wajahnya kepada Allah S.W.T. (sujud) daripada hari dia dilahirkan sehinggalah hari kematiannya dalam meredhakan Allah S.W.T., walaupun amal yang sedemikian dia akan merasai kurang pada hari kiamat."

Dari Abu Hurairah r.a. meriwayatkan bahawa baginda Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda,

"Apabila harta ghanimah dianggap sebagai hartanya sendiri, dan amanah yang diberikan dianggap sebagai miliknya, yang sepatutnya disampaikan kepada yang berhak dipakai umpama haknya sendiri. Zakat dianggap sebagai wang tebusan yang sepatutnya dikeluarkan dengan perasaan gembira tetapi dikeluarkan dengan dukacita. Ilmu dipelajari bukan untuk agama tetapi untuk kepentingan dunia. Suami mentaati isteri dan tidak mentaati ibunya. Kawan dirapatinya tetapi bapa dijauhinya. Masjid-masjid dijadikan tempat bising secara terbuka. Pemimpin masyarakat terdiri daripada orang fasik. Kumpulan yang paling hina menjadi pemimpin. Orang akan dimuliakan kerana takut dan kerana menghindari dari kejahatannya. Zahirnya penyanyi-penyanyi wanita dan muzik lebih digemari. Minuman-minuman arak menjadi kebiasaan. Ummat (generasi) yang kemudian mencaci dan memburuk-burukkan ummat yang terdahulu. (Ingatlah!) ketika itu akan berlaku angin merah, gempa bumi, bumi akan tenggelam, kecacatan pada wajah-wajah manusia akan berlaku, dan dari langit turunnya hujan batu. Dan berbagai penyakit akan terus datang satu persatu seumpama manik-manik yang terputus benangnya jatuh satu-persatu dengan laju."

Hadith - Bersyukur dengan nikmat Allah dan bersabar dengan ujianNya

Dari Abdullah bin A'mr r.a. berkata, aku mendengar Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda,

"Barangsiapa yang berdoa kepada Allah S.W.T., Allah S.W.T. akan memasukkannya di kalangan orang-orang yang bersyukur dan bersabar dan barangsiapa yang tidak berdoa dengan doa ini Allah S.W.T. tidak akan menuliskan di kalangan orang-orang yang bersyukur dan bersabar. Dan barangsiapa yang melihat seseorang yang lebih baik dari segi agamanya dan dia mengikutinya, dan mengenai perkara dunia dia melihat orang yang lebih rendah daripadanya dan dalam keadaan itu dia bersyukur kepada Allah S.W.T. (dengan kurniaan dan limpah Rahim Allah S.W.T.), Allah S.W.T. akan meletakkannya di kalangan orang-orang yang terbaik dan akan menuliskannya di kalangan orang-orang yang bersyukur dan bersabar dan barangsiapa yang melihat kepada orang yang kurang agamanya dan melihat orang yang lebih dari segi dunianya dan sentiasa mengeluh dalam memperolehi dunianya yang kurang, maka Allah S.W.T. tidak akan menggolongkannya di kalangan orang yang bersabar dan di kalangan orang yang bersyukur."

Islam has practically demonstrated the meaning of equality in front of the law. No monarch, governor, ruler, president, prime minister, cabinet minister, etc. could be ushered to court to stand as an ordinary citizen in front of the judge in the manner in which the Rulers of the Islamic Empire had demonstrated.
