I would like to know what say(doa) before adhaan and iqomah and after adhaan and iqomah.
Praise be to Allaah.
1 – With regard to du’aa’ before the adhaan, there is no du’aa’ to be recited before the adhaan as far as I know. If that time is singled out for any type of du’aa’, this is a reprehensible innovation (bid’ah). But if it is done by coincidence and accidentally then there is nothing wrong with it.
2 – With regard to before the iqaamah, when the muezzin is about to start the iqaamah, we know of no specific words to be recited at this time. Doing so when there is no solid shar’i evidence is a reprehensible innovation (bid’ah).
3 – With regard to the time between the adhaan and iqaamah, du’aa’ is encouraged at this time and it is mustahabb.

Rights of children
What are the rights of wife, children on the man.
Praise be to Allaah.
1 – The wife’s rights:
These have been discussed in detail in the answer to question no. 10680
2 – The children’s rights.
Allaah has given children rights over their parents just as the parents have rights over their children.
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: “Allaah has called them abraar (righteous) because they honoured (barru) their fathers and children. Just as your father has rights over you, so too your child has rights over you.
Al-Adab al-Mufrad, 94.

Ruling on cursing specific people
What is the ruling on cursing (and not just insulting) the Jews and Christians or other groups, whether living or dead? May Allaah reward you with good.
Praise be to Allaah.
The author of Lisaan al-‘Arab [a famous Arabic-language dictionary – Translator] said: La’n (curse) means being cast out far from goodness, and it was said that it means being cast away far from Allaah, and from people.
Cursing happens in two ways:
Cursing the kuffaar and sin in general terms, such as saying “May Allaah curse the Jews and Christians,” or “May Allaah curse the kaafirs, evildoers and wrongdoers,” or “May Allaah curse the wine-drinker and thief.” This kind of curse is permissible and there is nothing wrong with it. Ibn Muflih said in al-Adaab al-Shar’iyyah, 1/203: “It is permissible to curse the kuffaar in general.”
Praise be to Allaah.

Role of parents towards their children in a society that does not help in raising children properly
A very common problem seen in youth in western countries is that their parents allow them to indulge in some form of haram in the hope that that will stop them from committing worse haram. An example of this is that parents will say that they allow their children to indulge in music in the hope that that will stop them from going out with bad people or leaving their home all together. Parents are afraid that if they enforce the law of Allah in their homes, that their children will leave. What is Islam’s position on this sort of compromise? Some parents also say that they only have the duty to tell their children something is haram, and then their children have to choose for themselves because they are already young adults (i.e. 13 -18 yrs old and unmarried, living at home). Don’t the parents have to forbid haram by all means, or do they just say that is haram and then leave them be? To what extent do parents have to go to forbid their children from haram? Parents also believe that once their children reach the age of puberty they are no longer responsible for their sins or actions, and so say they will have no sin if they advise their children something is haram and then leave them. Is this true? Or do parents always have the responsibility of forbidding their children from haram, and will they be responsible if they see their children doing haram and just leave them after advising them?

The reason why the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) married ‘Aa’ishah despite the age difference
A Christian colleague of mine asked me why the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) married ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) when she was nine years old and he was nearly sixty, and was he intimate with her at that age or what? In fact I do not know how to respond to that.
Praise be to Allaah.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) married ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) after he married Sawdah bint Zam’ah (may Allaah be pleased with her). She – ‘Aa’ishah – was the only virgin whom he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) married. And he consummated the marriage with her when she was nine years old.

The difference between taking the kaafirs as friends and seeking their help
What is the difference between taking the kaafirs as friends (muwaalaah) and seeking their help?
Praise be to Allaah.
Taking the kaafirs as friends (muwaalaah) means supporting them and helping them in matters of kufr, such as the Muslims fighting alongside the kuffaar, such as when the kaafirs launch an assault against a Muslim country and a Muslim befriends them and supports them and helps them in fighting against that country, whether that is with weapons or by supplying them with anything that will help them to fight the Muslims. This is muwaalaah, or a type of friendship that is haraam,

Ruling on one who slanders ‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her)
Could you please answer my question about Shee‘ah (Shi‘a) Islam? Is it permissible for one to think badly of the Prophet’s wife ‘Aa’ishah, when anything said about ‘Aa’ishah is from authentic hadeeeths, such as Saheeh al-Bukhaari and Saheeh Muslim?
Praise be to Allaah.
‘Aa’ishah and the other Mothers of the Believers are included among the Companions of the Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him), so every text that forbids slandering the Companions refers to ‘Aa’ishah too.

His father denies that prayer is obligatory and reviles the Sahaabah
His father denies that prayer is obligatory and reviles the Sahaabah. What is the ruling concerning him, and how should he interact with him?
Praise be to Allaah Who has guided us and blessed us with the blessing of Islam. I started to become religiously committed a few months ago, but my father is opposing me in that. My father does not pray, because he does not acknowledge that prayer is obligatory. He even reviles some of the Sahaabah and speaks against ‘Aa’ishah, and he speaks ill of some of the righteous such as Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah. He doubts any hadeeth and he favours the Shi’ah.

The husband's father and mother have no authority over their son’s wife
Who has the right to be obeyed: the husband or his mother? What if the mother gives some instructions and the husband gives different instructions -- who is to be obeyed? Especially if the husband and his wife are living in his father's house?
What if the parents tell their son to tell his wife that she should do something, and the husband objects to that? Is she in turn obliged to listen to what her in-laws tell her, against the objections of her husband?.

Does an apostate mother have the right over her children that they should keep in touch with her and honour her
I am a Muslim man and my mother is a Sikh woman, but she became Muslim when she married my father. After she became Muslim she used to pray regularly, go to the mosque and attend lessons all the time. Then after approximately 13 years, I do not know what happened between them, but he divorced her and she apostatized from Islam and went back to her former religion, unfortunately.
I have tried hard to bring her back to Islam, because I know of the painful punishment for the one who apostatises from Islam, but without success. Now I do not know how to interact with her, because she is my mother and she has rights over me that I must pay attention to, but how can I create a balance in dealing with her? What advice can you offer me?.

Evidence Prohibiting of Mixing of Men and Women
My husband and I wanted to know if it were permissable to take Arabic classes at a college where the classes are mixed (men-women). We understand that there is no mixing between the sexes, but confused about the definition of "mixing". Please tell us what is permissable, what is not and give proof

Fatwa on Oral Sex
Oral Sex with One’s Wife: Is Ghusl Obligatory? My question is regarding Ghusl. Having oral sex with one's wife is allowed but is Ghusl Wajib? And if their having a skin contact (falling short of sexual intercourse) leads to secretion, do they need to make Ghusl, especially in the course of having oral sex? Thanks

His boss gave him the choice between reducing his beard or leaving the job
I work in a company and the boss asked me to reduce my beard (not shave it off) or leave the job. He always lets me pray in the mosque at the times of prayer. What is the ruling on reducing my beard?
Praise be to Allaah.
Firstly:
Shaving the beard is haraam, as is shortening it and reducing it, because of the evidence which shows that it is obligatory to leave it alone and let it grow.

Ruling on going on strike
What is the ruling on going on strike to attain some workers’ demands or to improve their situation?
Praise be to Allaah.
Striking is a breach of the contract between the worker and his employer, and Allaah calls on us in His Book to honour and uphold the contracts that one person may take upon himself towards another person. So the worker has to do all the work that he agreed to do in a manner that pleases Allaah and in accordance with the aayah (interpretation of the meaning);

Working in auditing offices when there is riba in the companies’ accounts
What is the ruling on working in auditing offices, knowing that the job of the auditor is to check the company's accounts and budgets which may contain records of bank accounts or interest (riba), but he is not the one who wrote these accounts or dealt with them at all; rather he is only reviewing or checking them? All of that is for the purpose of issuing a report on the extent to which this organisation is adhering to international guidelines with regard to the outcome of its activities and to issue financial records.
Minimum distance of travel at which it is permissible not to fast and to shorten prayers
What is the minimum distance of traveling at which the fasting is exused.
Praise be to Allaah
The majority of scholars are of the view that the distance at which a traveler may join prayers and not fast is forty-eight miles. Ibn Qudaamah said in al-Mughni:
The view of Abu ‘Abd-Allaah [i.e., Imam Ahmad] is that it is not permissible to shorten the prayers for a distance of less than sixteen farsakhs, and a farsakh is three miles, so the distance is forty-eight miles. This was the estimation of Ibn ‘Abbaas. He said: From ‘Usfaan to Makkah, or from al-Taa’if to Makkah, or from Jeddah to Makkah.

Collecting donations to give gifts to poor families at Christmas
In my school it is Christmas time. My school has this Christmas tradition. Every year a classroom gets an adopted family that is poor so they can buy gifts, food, and donate money to them for Christmas. Unfortunately, I have refused to donate any money or give any food for the following reason: -These denotations will be done in the name of christmas, so that when the adopted family receives these donations, they will say "God Bless The Christians".
Am I right for refusing to give donations?

Playing Qur'aan in the car from speakers next to the feet
I have a question about the ruling on playing Qur'aan in the car, as the sound comes out directly next to the feet.
Praise be to Allaah.
Listening to Qur'aan in the car is a righteous deed and a beneficial act of worship. But having the speakers directly next to one's feet in such a way that the sound of the Qur'aan is heard from below is something that is not appropriate and you should limit it to the rear speakers if you have any, or do something to change the position of the speakers.
